Thursdays 13: Sarah Considine

Sarah Considine is a senior at LFHS and is a captain and plays defense for the varsity field hockey team.

When and why did you start playing field hockey?

I started playing in second grade because my older cousins played, and I decided I wanted to as well.

What are your goals for the rest of the season?

The biggest goal that we are focusing on right now is winning state. Our first playoff game is today, and I am really excited about a strong playoff performance, and am optimistic about our team and our ability to win the championship this year.

What has been your most memorable moment you have experienced on the team?

Winning state last year, as it was a huge team win, and was by far one of the most exciting and rewarding moments.

What are your pregame rituals?

My pregame ritual is a pregame handshake with Gracie McGowan, Addie Sidles, and Madden Plante.

What are you most excited about to continue playing in college?

In college, I am most excited about the team environment and camaraderie at Columbia and can’t wait to elevate my game to the next level. I like the girls in my class and the ones already on the team a lot, and I am really looking forward to getting to know all of them better.

What is your favorite local place to eat?

My favorite local place to eat is the Other Door. Mexican food is my favorite, and in my opinion, it’s far better than Chipotle.

Who is your biggest idol?

Cat Nicholson. She currently plays field hockey at Iowa, and has always been a role model to me on the various teams we have been on together. She is incredibly athletic and an amazing player, and has always been someone I aspire to be like.

What is your life motto?

My life motto is that everything happens for a reason.

If your house was on fire, what three things would you take? (Family and pets are safe)

I would bring my phone, toothbrush and favorite sweatshirt.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

My biggest pet peeve is when people try to erase things with a pencil that doesn’t have much eraser left. It makes this scratchy noise that drives me crazy.

What is your favorite subject in school?

Math is my favorite subject is school because I like how there is only one answer. It’s always been a class I have found interesting and fun.

Would you rather be able to see into the future or travel into the past?

I would rather travel into the future to see what I will be doing in and after college. It’s interesting to think about and would be cool to know.

Pen or pencil?

Pencil.
