Playlists+in+Person%3A+Truly+Timeless

Be sure to follow @theforestscout on Spotify for weekly playlists curated by our authors.

As a follow up to my article about the present day importance of classical music, here is a playlist with some of my favorite classical pieces including concertos, symphonies and masterpieces.  I’ve included specific orchestras and artists with each recording, but those are just my favorites.  Use these classical works when studying or falling asleep, and help preserve an art form that is truly timeless.

Rienzi: Rienzi: Overture-Guido Cantelli and the NBC Symphony Orchestra

Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibition-George Szell and The Cleveland Orchestra

(Rachmaninoff) Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op.18-Yuja Wang and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra

(Tchaikovsky) Piano Concerto No. 1 in B Flat Minor, Op.23, TH.55-Martha Argerich and the Berliner Philharmoniker

(Dvorak) Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, Op.95 (The New World Symphony)- Fritz Reiner and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

The Mission: Gabriel’s Oboe & The Falls-Ennio Morricone & Yo-Yo Ma

(Beethoven) Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op.67- Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra

(Beethoven) Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op.12- Sir Georg Solti and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra
