Emmet Lee is a junior Captain for the varsity lacrosse team. This past month he has committed to Cornell University for Lacrosse. Cornell is the reigning NCAA D1 champion and are currently ranked as one of the top programs in the country. Lee is following in a long line of D1 Lacrosse players here at Lake Forest.
Varsity lacrosse Coach David Hone has also played lacrosse D1 level and is no stranger to what it takes to succeed.
“I expect Emmet to make significant contributions on the field and as a teammate for D1 national powerhouse and 2025 national champion Cornell University,” said Hone.
Hone’s confidence in Lee comes from years of watching him grow both as an athlete and as a leader. Known for his relentless work ethic, composure under pressure, and ability to elevate those around him, Lee has been a cornerstone of the Scouts’ success. His drive to improve and his commitment to the sport made him stand out to college recruiters early on, ultimately leading to his opportunity with one of the nation’s most competitive programs.
“This desire and enthusiasm to improve especially as a team reflects Emmet being named Varsity captain as a sophomore and junior,” said Hone.
Looking ahead to his time at Cornell, Lee hopes to carry the same mindset and approach that have defined his high school career. Known for his creativity and focus on detail, he aims to bring his “intention to cause confusion” and his attention to detail into every aspect of the game at the next level.
“When I play I really care about the little things like ground balls, running to the end line, cutting off ball, and doing the small things better than they do them,” said Lee.
For Lee, the decision went beyond athletics, it was about finding a place that would challenge him both on and off the field.
“I chose Cornell because I really value the schooling I am going to get because after I’m done playing lacrosse the education I get will matter a ton,” said Lee. “In addition to the great school, they also have a great team.”
Lee’s connection to Cornell went beyond athletics, shaping his vision for the person he hopes to become on and off the field.
“On my visit I fell in love with everything the program has to offer. They really prioritize being the best version of yourself in every way. The lacrosse field, classroom, and just as a human being. I really saw myself growing as a person at Cornell and that’s what my biggest reason I chose it,” said Lee.
Beyond the competition and the challenge of Division I lacrosse, what excites Lee most is the culture surrounding the program.
“I’m most looking forward to being on a team where all the guys are the brothers. The brotherhood at Cornell seemed unmatched and you could tell by everyone’s relationships with one another,” said Lee.
