Varsity Dance Team earns trip to IHSA State Finals 1MUNDELEIN, Ill.– After earning an NSC title a week ago at Waukegan, more congratulations go out to the LFHS Varsity Dance team on their second-place finish at the Mundelein IHSA Competitive Dance Sectional on Saturday, January 20. The Scouts narrowly finished behind Antioch in the 2A division, who topped the Scouts’ score by a mere .8 points, 92.5 to 91.77. Antioch, Lake Forest, Libertyville, Maine East, Lakes Community, and Vernon Hills all advanced to the IHSA State Final in 2A.

The Scouts chose to perform their Jazz routine at Sectionals, which features junior male performer Ben Reinkemeyer.

As a result, the Varsity Dance Team will be heading to Bloomington’s Grossinger Motors Arena to perform their jazz routine at the IHSA Competitive Dance State Tournament on January 26 and 27. The Scouts have qualified for the State Finals four times now since the state recognized Competitive Dance as a sanctioned athletic event. Their top finish in those trips was in 2013 when the Scouts finished 2nd under the direction of then head coach Nikki Lazzaretto.
