If we’ve learned anything from high school, it’s that a good skincare and makeup routine is absolutely necessary. With 7+ hour school days, you need something that will stay. Glossier, a beauty supply store, has got the best there is.
Skincare
I don’t use any primers. However, I consider Glossier’s “Super Pure Serum” as mine as it is always there to prep my skin. This product has a daily vitamin and mineral duo of Zinc PCA and 5% Niacinamide. Its main function is to smooth out your skin and minimize your pores. It is a very liquidy serum that blends into your skin extremely easily. I have found that after I started using this, my skin feels increasingly hydrated for longer periods of time throughout the day. If you’re already excited by the Super Pure serum, Glossier also offers The Super Pack which consists of two other serums, three in total, to go along with the Super Pure.
If you are looking for that glowy and dewy makeup look, or a post-facial vibe, you need the “Futuredew Serum” in your routine. This is an oil serum hybrid packed with plant-based extracts and nourishing oils that give you a well-moisturized, brighter look that lasts up to 12 hours. I recommend using this serum at the very last step of your skincare routine. I have found it makes your skin look shiny with or without makeup on top. My mom initially bought me this serum in a pack with lip balms and I never used it. One day, I ran out of serum, decided to use that one, and I have never looked back.
Personally, I can’t stand it when my face feels greasy after skincare. Although, even after I do skincare, sometimes I still feel like my skin needs an extra layer of something. This “Priming Moisturizer” is a lightweight moisturizer that has single handedly saved me. It makes my face feel completely hydrated without feeling like I have a face mask on. This moisturizer is also especially made to prime the skin for makeup, perfectly fitting into a routine.
If you’re looking for a balm that will coat your dry or sunburnt skin, Glossier’s “After Baume” is here for you. This Buame has plant-based moisture magnets, Glycerin and Cupuaçu Butter which will help your dry skin bounce back to hydration. This was also awarded the National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance. Clearly, it is very popular. I once came back from a trip to Cancun and my face, from being in the sun for a week, was peeling. I was terrified to go to school looking like a reptile. This moisturizer saved my life. It locked in my skin and put my awful peeling to a halt. With spring break coming up, this should be at the top of your “to-buy” list!
Makeup
Everyone loves a nice pigmented, high shine lip gloss. If you are looking for a new one, the glossier lip gloss in the shade “Glassy Plush Shine” is our personal choice. It is long lasting, not too sticky, moisturizing, and you will get so many compliments. Another plus to this gloss is the applicator, as it allows you to apply just the right amount. It is just the right size – not too small or big – and can fit in your pocket, bag, or your shoe if you don’t have a bag. Trust me, I’ve tried that as I put it in my cowboy boot and didn’t even know it was there. There are many other colors including clear, different pink and brown shades, but we would recommend the darkest pink as a darker pink lip is always the best way to go.
Blush has got to be my favorite step in my makeup routine. Having a little – or a lot – of pink on my cheeks just brings everything together. Known as “Cloud Paint”, Glossier has a collection of seamless cheek colors inspired by golden hour sunsets. You honestly only need about a drop on each cheek, if any more you might end up looking like a clown. But, with the right amount, it looks like the perfect rosy cheek. Soar, shown in this photo, is one of my favorite colors. I also recommend the shade Puff, for a warm pink.
Every girl loves her mascara. If you want to avoid the scary “spider lash” look, Glossier’s best selling “Lash Stick” is perfect. It is the most natural, non-cakey mascara I have ever used and you don’t have to rip your eyelashes out to get it out. It comes in colors black and brown, offering a variety. This flexible formula has teeny-tiny fibers that coat each individual lash from root to tip making your eyelashes look longer and maximized.
Perfume
If you like to be unique, this is the perfume for “You.” The unique thing about this perfume is that it is different for everyone. It changes its scent based on the pH of your skin, so it is a little different on everyone. It has notes of sparkling pink pepper, earthy iris, with a warm, slightly-sweet base. This perfume is very popular among the girls at our school, and if you’re ever wondering what perfume someone is wearing, I bet most of the time it is this. It is so unique, that it will leave people wondering exactly what you are wearing. It is warm and soft. This is one of my go to perfumes as I love the way it smells and get so many compliments.
Glossier “You Rêve” Eau de Parfum
After being a fan of the “You” perfume for a good amount of time now, when they released two new perfumes, I desperately wanted to try these new releases. I went to the store in Chicago to smell them, and was disappointed by one of them but was impressed by the other. Their “You Doux” is not particularly my favorite, but “You Reve” is definitely worth a try if you want a new unique scent. One thing I love about this scent is that you can mix it with the original “You” perfume which makes it ten times better. This perfume has notes of rich Buttercream, followed by an addictive note of Plum Butter, Toasted Almond, Iris and creamy white Sandalwood—heightened by a warm, musky base driven by Ambrox. You’re probably thinking, “what even is Ambrox?” To be honest, I’m not sure. But all I know is that this perfume is worth trying and you are sure to love it.
