As we head into fall, the air gets crisper and the temperature drops: the perfect excuse to buy new clothes! 

Figuring out what to wear this season can be tiring. It’s also difficult to keep up with the latest trends while staying within your style range. This is why I have created the perfect style guide for you.

Black Mini Skirts

Mini skirts are the perfect addition to any outfit. They are classy and will never go out of style. You can easily dress them up or down depending on the occasion. A dressed-up look could vary between a plain white or black tank, excessive jewelry and a fun pair of heels. If it is colder, a sweater or layering with a leather jacket always looks perfect. I recommend investing in higher-quality skirts because they will always be in trend.

Leopard Print

Leopard print is one of the newer trends this season, but I hope it’s here to stay. It is a stylish print and instantly adds the “cool girl” effect. Recently, there have been lots of leopard print skirts, tops, tanks and sneakers, but if you want to stay ahead of the trends, I would recommend looking at claw clips, hair clips, heels and purses. This season is all about accessorizing!

Kitten Heels

Speaking of heels, kitten heels are going to be a big part of fall fashion. They are incredibly classy and can be worn with almost anything. Black, white, red and any fun print are the perfect way to spice up an outfit. To dress them up, try a mini dress paired with a jacket, or a maxi dress paired with a cardigan. For a casual look, a pair of straight-legged jeans and a black or white tank paired with black kitten heels give off the perfect “model-off-duty” look.

Low Rise Jeans

Low rise jeans have been popular for a while now, and I understand why. The nice thing about low-rise jeans is that they are versatile when styling, meaning they can be worn with almost anything. Whether that be a full-length top, crop top or sweater, low rise jeans set the tone for a comfortable yet stylish outfit. There are many different washes and styles, although I believe that a light to medium wash is the perfect way to go. My go-to outfit when I have nothing to wear is a pair of light or dark-wash low-rise jeans, a white tank and a sweater to top it off.

Jewelry

Jewelry is one of the most important parts of an outfit. Whether that be statement or simple pieces, jewelry is the best way to complete your outfit. This fall, layering jewelry is very in. 

First, let’s start with earrings. Earrings, in my eyes, are a must when accessorizing. Plain gold hoops, pearls or teardrops are my personal favorites.

Next, onto the hands. Stacking bracelets such as gold beads, charm bracelets and hand chains are great when wearing sleeveless tops. 

Rings tend to also be a fan favorite. Some people like a lot of rings while others like only one or two; yet, rings will always be a staple in a jewelry collection. 

Lastly, necklaces. With shirts that have deeper necklines, I recommend layering necklaces. Anything from a few simple chains to multiple pendants always looks beautiful. With a higher neckline, a clean pendant, gold or silver, without fail will complete an outfit.

Fun Bags

Purses have always been in but this fall more fun bags are coming back into style. Studded shoulder bags are currently a big trend in the fashion world. Red, black, or brown studded bags can add a bit of spice to any simple outfit. Suede is also coming back, and not only in bag form; dark and light brown suede bags can easily add a touch of elevation to your look.

Colors

The main colors to be wearing this season vary but are all in a deeper toned family. A deep burgundy-reddish color is, in my opinion, the perfect color for fall. You can pair this color with a light to medium wash of denim or any black mini skirt. 

Next on the lineup is a cooler tone of brown. It is a classy color that is easily paired with any color of denim, pants or skirt. 

Finally, the classic navy blue. Navy blue is a perfect color year round but, in fall, it is simply an easy color for any outfit. You wear navy tops, scarves, jackets, pants, skirts— really anything and it will always look elegant

Boots

Lastly on my list are boots. A nice brown or black boot will instantaneously upgrade an outfit. Whether they be heeled, frye, moto or knee-high, boots are 100% in this fall. For black knee-high boots, a black mini skirt, a black top, a leather jacket and a fun bag is a perfect going-out outfit. For brown boots, a denim skirt and any top of your choosing will make you look fashionable and put together.

This concludes some of the 2024 fall fashion trends. However, don’t let this stop you from wearing what you want to wear. If you like my advice, take it, but remember it is difficult to go wrong with fashion, regardless of whether it is trending. It is also never wrong to say goodbye to the trends and return to the basics.
