Potential College Roommate Questions

Shaffer Franklin

As the college process continues for seniors, I gathered some questions that one could ask a potential roommate to determine if they are the perfect match for each other! (Check out Tatum’s article about how to find a roommate).

How To Find A Last Minute Roommate

Questions to ask when starting to get to know each other:

– What do you like to do in your free time/on the weekends?
– Do you plan on going home a lot during the weekends?
– What type of music do you listen to?
– Are you planning on playing any sports, joining a club, or rushing?
– Do you like to go out on the weekends?
– What type of TV shows/movies do you watch?
– Do you have any allergies?
– Where do you live?
– Do you have any pets?

Questions to ask when the basics are known:
– What time do you usually wake up/fall asleep?
– Are you a morning or night person?
– Are you planning on having a job during the school year?
– Do you like to study in the room or go somewhere else to study?
– Would you care if people came and hung out in our room?
– (If applicable for the college) What dorm would you like to live in?
– (If applicable for the college) Are you planning on having a car on campus or not?

Questions to ask when you think you’re going to room with the person:
– What is your opinion on sharing personal belongings?
– How do you feel about overnight guests?
– How neat are you/do you like the room to be neat?
– Do you like when the room is quiet, has some noise, or are you indifferent?
– How would you like to decorate the room?
