Behind the Set of the Morning News

Amongst the many treasures at  LFHS, one that is most prized is the LFHS Morning News Broadcast. Posted regularly every Friday, the morning news features the students of the school’s Special Education Department. The students share entertainment, news, and laughter, while encouraging peers to stay motivated and positive.

Behind the polished Morning News lies a team of dedicated students and staff members. From researching and scripting to recording and editing, it is clear that this show requires a collaborative effort driven by creativity, skill, and most of all, teamwork.

The Morning News’s key to success is how well students are able to collaborate together; they don’t see each other as colleagues or classmates but as best friends.

“We are good friends and have a good time together,” said Morning News member Jack Clark.

The students view each other not only as classmates but as close friends, which makes the Morning News enjoyable for the team and motivates them to put their best effort into the morning broadcast.

“Because we get to work together, every week we look forward to this,” said Morning News member Hannah Miczugah.

Each student has their own personal reason for being a member of the Morning News.

“I like doing this because I can share it with my family,” said Clark.

Other students were excited to get involved to share their passions.

“ I love talking about movies,” said Misczugah, “ I can talk about them for hours.”

Each student uses their passions and interests as motivation to produce the best content they can.

“It’s really amazing the ideas they come up with,” said Mr. Brian, a teacher in the Special Education Department. “We don’t tell them what to do. A few episodes ago, Sam wanted to edit himself underwater for the joke of the day. Things like that are what make the Morning News special. They look forward to this every Thursday, and they work very hard and well together.”
