Winter 2018: Things To Do

Winter+2018%3A+Things+To+Do

As December rapidly approaches, winter will be in full effect as we’ve already had some pretty big snow accumulation. With at least three months of cold approaching, it can seem as if there’s nothing to do. Nonetheless, it’s super easy to have a blast during winter whether it’s indoors or out. Here are a few examples that can serve as reminders that winter doesn’t have to be as bad as it may seem.

Bake. Especially with the approaching holidays, staying warm and cozy inside baking some cookies can be a blast. Even if you’re not the most talented chef, it’s still fun to make a very rewarding treat with your friends or family.

Go ice skating. Ice skating can be the perfect getaway with friends and family, and especially with the abundance of rinks around us, it can be a fun, free activity and a great way to spend quality time with your favorite people.

Where can you go?

West Park, LF

Artesian Park, LB

Centennial Ice Rink, Highland Park

Go skiing or snowboarding. Skiing is a great day trip activity for the weekends. Even if you’ve never done a snow sport, go with some friends who have and give it a try on the bunny hill.

Wilmot Mountain (about 45 min drive)

11931 Fox River Rd, Wilmot, WI 53192

Alpine Valley Ski Resort (about 1 hr drive)

W2501 Co Rd D, Elkhorn, WI 53121

Go sledding. Skiing and snowboarding not for you? That’s ok! Especially if you have family coming in town this holiday season, take your little cousins sledding for a fun filled afternoon. You can spend time with your family or friends while embracing your inner child.

.

Make gingerbread houses. Making cool icing-decorated gingerbread houses doesn’t have to just be a thing for little kids. Get some friends together and have a little party- go above and beyond to make a gingerbread mansion if you want! For an extra challenge, make your own gingerbread instead of buying a kit.
