Week 9 Fantasy Football

Teams on bye: 49ers, Broncos, Jaguars, and Lions

Players to trade high

New York Giants Running Back: Saquan Barkley

Barkley is an all-star running back and will be a future hall of famer, but the Giant’s offense is not the best place for him to explode. The Giant’s offensive line is injured and is ranked dead last in the NFL. Barkley had thirty-six attempts last week and only had 15.8 points. Other running backs in the NFL get half of those attempts and still outscore Barkley. Barkley is a guy that should be producing like Christian McCaffrey (49ers running back), but the Giants offense isn’t helping him. People see him as a perfect running back, and you could get a lot of good value for him.

Tennesse Titans Wide Receiver: Deandre Hopkins

Hopkins had an explosive week against a decent Atlanta Falcons secondary with 34.8 points. I am worried that he only got four catches and that new starting quarterback Will Levis had one good game. Hopkins doesn’t get a lot of targets, but when he does, it’s usually a deep ball for a lot of yards. Managers will see Levis as a great quarterback and bite on a trade for a lot of value for Hopkins.

Players to trade for low

Cleveland Browns Running Back: Kareem Hunt

The Browns acquired Hunt after starter Nick Chubb was injured in week two. Hunt is their red zone back and gets a majority of touches inside the ten-yard line. This means he gets touchdowns. Hunt has four touchdowns and has averaged 15 points in his past three games. Being projected under 10 points every week, people are doubting his abilities. If you have running backs out because of bye weeks, this is a great guy to trade for.

Las Vegas Raiders Wide Receiver: Davante Adams

Managers have been disappointed with Adams’s performance over the past four weeks. In three of the weeks, he has had under 10 points. Also, the Raiders have fired Head Coach Josh McDaniels and Offensive Coordinator Mick Lombardi. After a poor performance on Monday Night Football, starting quarterback Jimmy Garapolo has been benched, and backup rookie Aidan O’Connell will be starting this week. The Raiders are in shambles, and managers want to eliminate him. The new coaches have said they want to simplify the offense so that Adams will be at the front. If you can get him for good value, it could pay off a lot.

Pickups

New Orleans Saints Tight End: Taysom Hill

Hill is a jack of all trades for the Saints. He plays quarterback, running back, and tight end. He is classified as a tight end on fantasy football, and with the byes this week, many great tight ends are out. In the past three weeks, he has averaged 17 points. Hill is on many league’s waiver wires and is a great pickup if you need a tight end.

Buffalo Bills Running Back: Leonard Fournette

The Bills recently picked up Fournette from free agency. The Bills have a great offense, but the running backs have been average compared to it. Fournette could make a significant difference to the offense and get most of the touches later in the year. It could take a couple of weeks for him to acclimate to the offense, but he could be an excellent piece for your team if you can hold onto him for a few weeks.

Booms

Cincinnati Bengals Quarterback: Joe Burrow

Burrow has picked up a head of steam in the past three weeks, averaging over 20 points. He had 27 against the 49ers, one of the best teams in the league. I see him continuing this against the Buffalo Bills. He has become on the same page as the star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase. The Bengal’s offense will continue this fire, and he will have a big week.

New Orleans Saints Running Back: Alvin Kamara

Kamara has been an absolute star since his comeback, averaging over 20 points a game. This week, he plays the Chicago Bears, and this will be an excellent matchup for him. The Bears have struggled against running backs that can also be receivers. Kamara can rush and catch passes and will have a solid week against the Bears; I see him going for more than 25 points.

Busts

Seahawks Quarterback: Geno Smith

Smith is going up against an on-fire Raven’s defense. Two weeks ago, they held the Lions to six points of offense. They were coming off a rough week in Cleveland, where he had two interceptions and was sacked. Starting Wide Receiver D.K Metcalf has been struggling with injuries, hurting Geno. I don’t see him going for more than 15 points this week.

Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver: Jaylen Waddle

This surprises some managers, but the Dolphins are going to Germany for their game. The time change affects a lot of players, and this leads to low-scoring games. I don’t think either team will be at their best, and Waddle is the wide receiver two. The Dolphins will go to their reliable wide receiver, Tyreek Hill. I see Waddle having one of his average or worse weeks with 10 points.
