Scouts improve to .500 record with back to back wins over Zion-Benton

This Monday and Tuesday, The Varsity baseball team was able to sweep a two game series over the Zion Benton Zee-Bees. The Scouts, who as of now, are 3-2 (4th place) in the North Suburban Conference, were able to jump back to an even stint of wins and losses with 6 a piece.

Monday was lead by dominant hurling in ace sophomore Callum Morrison, striking out 7 while allowing 1 hit and no runs through 3 innings. The Scouts dominated on offense as well, scoring 11 runs, led by a pair of 2 RBI games by juniors Bink Hartline and Matthew Chabraja.

The following day was no different, capturing a 12-1 victory. The offense once again was on fire, with an explosive game from  Northern Illinois University commit senior Luca Royer, with two hits and three RBIs, one  being an inside the park home run.

“It felt good, when I hit it, I felt nothing on my hands. Perfect barrel. When I crossed home plate I knew that we had all the momentum to get the W. The win is just another step in the right direction for us and Im’m excited to see how this season unfolds,” said Royer.

Junior Hudson Scroggins went 4 innings on the mound, punching out another seven Zee-Bees.

The Scouts continue their busy week with three home matchups, Thursday night vs. Grayslake North, and finishing Saturday with Crystal Lake Central.
