LAKE FOREST, Ill.– Yesterday at West Campus, the LFHS Field Hockey team faced off against the Homewood-Flossmoor Victor Vikings in what turned out to be an incredibly strong showing from the Scouts.

LFHS got things going with two quick goals from juniors Julia Hender and Madden Plante, both of whom propelled the Scouts to an early lead that set the tone for the remainder of the match.  Plante in particular went on to score two additional goals, while senior Allison Quackenbush and junior Gracie McGowan added a goal apiece for the Scouts to secure a comfortable 6-0 lead.

It was the fierce offensive attack that gave the Scouts their advantage in this match; for almost the entirety of the game, the girls managed to keep the ball on the Vikings side of the field.

The Scouts took the field yesterday as reigning state champions, but as the 2018-19 season gets going, all twenty varsity players have their sights on this year’s success. Senior captain Sarah Considine in particular articulated her excitement, telling The Forest Scout, “We’ve got a very solid team this year with plenty of new players ready to prove themselves.”

These newcomers include sophomores Julia LeClercq, Kylie Perkins, and Sophia Gambit, as well as juniors Molly Vedra and Willow Volkert and freshman Heidi Richardson. Leadership is crucial for these players to excel, and in addition to the core nine players from last year, seniors Lindsay Folker and Elizabeth Burdiak make up a large senior class.

While this was the Field Hockey team’s first home game, their record currently stands at 3-0-2 following a Loyola tournament. This Saturday, the Scouts will face the Arrowhead High School Warhawks at West Campus. Be there at 11 am to witness yet another state run in the making!
