On the home stretch of the season, the Boys Volleyball team (19-7) played an exciting six matches in four days. It all began on May 2 against Zion-Benton (10-14), and moved on as they participated in the Northside Classic Tournament alongside powerhouses Glenbrook North and New Trier. This is crucial part of the season as the Scouts have finally entered the Top 25 Rankings in the state of Illinois at #20.
First, the boys visited the Bee Hive of Zion-Benton, looking to get back on the winning track in an important conference match. Through the power of 15 kills from Kevin Lamp, the Scouts cruised to a straight set victory 25-22, 25-18. Next came the tournament, where the boys beat Lake Zurich (7-18) and New Trier (18-5) back-to-back, only dropping one game in the process. This was a big confidence booster for the Scouts as New Trier was ranked #8 in the state. The Scouts ran out of luck as they fell to Hersey (27-5), Warren (18-12), and Stevenson (24-8) during the final days of the tournament. Kevin Lamp had an excellent weekend and Junior Eric Mzyk continued to impress.
Come check out the Scouts tonight in the competition gym as they face off with the Eagles of Lakes Community High School!
