This week, the boys volleyball team (17-4) faced off against the Deerfield Warriors (19-5) and the Zee-Bee’s of Zion-Benton (10-14). Both teams are in completely different positions as Deerfield is a top-10 ranked team in the state while Zion is struggling to keep their average above .500.
Monday night, the Scouts looked extremely tired after their long weekend. They lost in straight sets (14-25, 21-25) for the first time since April 18. Big men Eric Mzyk and Brennan Marzella stepped up and combined for multiple blocks in the match. Following the loss, the boys traveled to Zion in attempt to get back on the winning track. Coach Wolf changed up the lineup with Eric Mzyk receiving his first career start. The Scouts won (25-22, 25-18) and are now currently ranked as the 21st team in Illinois. Kevin Lamp led the team with 13 kills and Justin McCartney had 26 assists.
Catch the Scouts tomorrow night when they play the 15th ranked Spartans of Glenbrook North.
