Last weekend, the Girls’ Varsity Tennis Team participated in the IHSA Sectional Tournament in Highland Park. The other teams that competed in the tournament were Palatine, Highland Park, Deerfield, Hersey, Buffalo Grove, Waukegan, Zion-Benton, and Wheeling. The Scouts finished in first with a point differential of five and medals around their necks.
As for singles, the Scouts had two players finish in the top five- Kiley Rabjohns and Cody Avis. With Rabjohns placing first and Avis in fourth, they were both deemed key contributors to the win on Saturday. Their performances also allows them to punch their ticket to the state tournament which takes place next week.
In the doubles pairings, the Scouts had more resistance from their opponents which caused a less-represented podium. Nika Belova and Olivia Wheldon were the only ones to make it in the finals for Lake Forest and ended up in second place. This finish allows them to qualify for the state tournament next week and a chance to take home the doubles title for Lake Forest.
The Scouts showed up to play on Saturday and came away with another crucial win. The Scouts were in first at 28 points with Highland Park at 23 and Palatine at 22 trailing behind. With Rabjohns, Avis, and Belova/Wheldon all qualifying for state, the Scouts have a great chance of competing for a state title.
