The annual Lake Forest High School Talent Show will take the stage Feb. 26-28 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available here.
Singers, comedians, musicians, dancers, and even an Yo-Yoer will share their impressive skills with the community. The crew has been meticulously organizing this show while the performers rehearse and refine their acts–each contribution helping bring this show to life.
This year’s show, which is a 1970s theme, has a versatile lineup including 17 acts and 15 videos/comedies made by New Media students.
Freshman Eloise Mulliken and sophomore Jeannie Pezza are very excited to take the stage together singing “Valerie” by Amy Winehouse. The duo has been involved in musical theater together at The Performers School since middle school, appearing in shows including Footloose, Chicago, and Mean Girls.
Mulliken shared how excited she is to fill out her planning and efforts on stage, and who served as inspiration for their performance.
“An inspiration for this was from some of the performances by Kay Clifford, a singer who graduated a few years ago from LFHS,” said Mulliken. “We’re super excited for the Talent Show–especially now that we have a band organized to play with us–and we’ve worked out the lighting and outfits for our act!”
Another musical act will include senior Nate Arch. This experienced Lake Forest musician will be singing “Feeling Good,” a song he has been waiting to perform for years. Arch felt this was the perfect opportunity to sing it–joined by several fellow LFHS musicians.
“With so many instrumental parts, improvisations, and overall organization required for the performance, I haven’t felt ready until this year,” Arch said.
The Talent Show encourages teamwork and collaboration—skills in which Arch truly excels. His act is not that of your typical singer, but is a full-out production.
“Our act consists of incredible musicians, almost all of whom participate in extracurricular music activities such as LFHS jazz band, church bands, School of Rock, and even music production,” said Arch.
The band Itty Bitty Kitty Committee is also performing next weekend, playing “Kyoto” by indie-rock artist Phoebe Bridgers. The band includes Nori Kan, Jamie Muller, Taryn Allison, Kamila Cygan. A fun fact about their band is that their band name comes from the cartoon show Bob’s Burgers, and they are very excited to play at the Talent Show this year.
“I was inspired to perform this act since I first sang along to Kyoto. We all share a love for music, and are so grateful to be able to perform in the Talent Show,”said lead singer Nori Kan.
Another notable and excited performer this year is junior Zoë Floriani. She will be singing and playing “Sparks” by Coldplay on guitar. Floriani has performing experience with chamber groups, orchestras, and with her friends.
“I have so many amazing friends who play music themselves and have encouraged me to give the talent show a try,” said Floriani.
As a new participant this year, she has found so much support and enthusiasm from both her fellow performers, and the production as a whole.
“Everyone’s been so incredibly kind and supportive. I would a thousand percent recommend sending in an audition to anyone who’s interested next year!”
