LAKE FOREST, Ill.–Last night, the Lake Forest Scouts girls basketball team, along with head coach Kyle Wilhelm, celebrated the careers of six outstanding seniors in their program with a 50-31 win over the visiting Zion-Benton Zee-Bees. The game marked the final contest in the Scouts’ regular season schedule, which concludes with a record of (21-9, 10-4).
Annie Aberle, Victoria Giordano, Olivia Douglass, Audrey Kaus, Maeve Summerville, and Jen Whittington all saw action in last night’s win. Maeve Summerville, who sat out the entire season with a knee injury, even made it into the contest briefly to see action.
The Scouts, the number two seed in the Sectional, will play their next match-up in the IHSA Regional semifinal held at Grayslake North High School. In their first game, the Scouts will play the winner of Grayslake North and Deerfield High School, the 15 and 18 seeds respectively. On the bottom half of the Regional bracket lies Lake Zurich, who must get passed a tough, 21-win Grant team that went 12-1 in their league play this season, to earn a rematch with the Scouts. Two of Lake Forest’s four conference losses this season have come at the hands of Lake Zurich. The Bears won 30-29 in a thriller in east Lake Forest and competed the season series sweep last week with a 40-34 victory in Lake Zurich.
If the Scouts are able to make it out of their Regional they will likely Palatine, the Sectional’s #3 seed, who will potentially face Stevenson, the 6 seed in the Regional final.
