LAKE ZURICH, Ill.–Now that it is official that both the Lake Zurich Bears (15-9, 10-3) and the Lake Forest Scouts (20-9, 9-4) will be playing in the Grayslake North IHSA Regional in a little more than a week, it only makes sense that their rivalry was heightened in Friday night’s NSC tilt.
The Scouts battled throughout, trying to earn a tough road win against a Lake Zurich team who is battle-tasted. With the score tied at 26 at the end of the third, however, the road warriors ran out of gas on the offensive end. The Bears outscored the Scouts 14-8 in the final frame en route to a 40-34 victory in their tenth NSC win of the year.
Sophomore Halle Douglass led the Scouts with 9 points while junior Ellie Pearson added 7. The Scouts shot just 13-49 (27%) from the field in the road loss and were just 4-24 from 3-point land. Ellie Pearson added 8 rebounds for the Scouts.
The Lady Scouts look to bounce back in their final regular season game this Wednesday on Senior Night vs. Zion-Benton. This will be the Scouts’ last tune-up before the ISHA State Tournament begins the following week.
