LAKE FOREST, Ill.–Using a 21-0 first quarter run to propel them to victory, the Scouts left no doubt in their defeat of Waukegan Friday night at East Campus. The halftime score of 35-9 allowed coach Kyle Wilhelm to let some of his reserves experience varsity minutes in his 89th win as head coach.
Freshman Lilly Trkla had 20 points on 9-15 shooting from the floor. Aside from Trkla’s team-leading output, Halle Douglass added 14 points, Grace Tirzmalis and Honor Thomas chipped in 8 points, and Ellie Pearson and Thomas led the Scouts with 8 rebounds apiece. With the 63-30 win, the Scouts move to (18-7, 7-2) on the season. This week, the Scouts face Stevenson, who beat the Scouts in their first match-up this season, on the road in Lincolnshire. From there, the Scouts will face Warren, currently the NSC leader with only one loss, on Saturday night in Gurnee. Clearly, this week will prove to be a make-or-break week for coach Wilhelm’s bunch.
