MUNDELEIN, Ill.– With the return of Lake Forest’s all-time leading rebounder, Maeve Summerville, coming later this month, the Scouts (13-7, 6-2) are hitting their stride and still have an outside chance of receiving the #1 seed in their Sectional.
Last night, the Scouts rolled to a 27-11 first half lead and never looked back, earning their sixth conference win of the season in convincing fashion, 43-27, in Mundelein. The Scouts were led by junior Ellie Pearson’s 13 points. Pearson, a post player, has been on an absolute tear for the Scouts since the holiday break. Her 53% clip from the field, as well as her 8.2 points per game are both good for second on the team. Halle Douglass added 11 points for the Scouts last night in the win.
Regarding their conference rank, the Scouts trail Stevenson and Warren as both rivals have only one loss in league play. The Scouts’ rematch with Stevenson comes later this month. Earning a season split with the Patriots while sweeping Warren in conference play could spell an NSC title and the #1 overall seed in the February Sectional.
With Pearson and Douglass playing their best basketball of the year and the return of Maeve Summerville looming, there is no telling how far the Scouts could advance this season.
