LAKE FOEEST, Ill.–Down 15-4 at the end of the first quarter, the Lake Forest Scouts were in need of a spark to turn the tide in their conference match-up with Libertyville. The Scouts (7-5, 4-1) got just that in the second quarter, going on a 9-2 to cut the Libertyville lead to two points at halftime.
With their chosen teachers in the crowd cheering them on, the Scouts used Halle Douglass’ game-high 15 points to catalyze a comeback 35-33 victory for the Scouts on their home floor. The Wildcats, who came into the game with an NSC record of (2-2) were looking to steal one from the Scouts on the road. Libertyville received a balanced scoring attack from 5’6″ sophomore Maggie Buchert (12 points) and 5’8″ freshman Lauren Huber. Clearly, the Cats have a strong young nucleus in tact, but as for their first (and last) match-up in 2017, the Scouts stayed on top.
