LAKE FOREST, Ill.–Stevenson seniors Kiana Cencula and Klaire Steffens intended on righting the ship for the Stevenson Patriots after a recent loss to Warren on their home floor in Lincolnshire. Wednesday night in Lake Forest, they made quite a statement.
Cencula, a 5’9 senior guard connected on four 3-pointers en route to 14 points, while Steffens made 9 of her 12 free throws on her way to a game-high 17 points. Those two players’ scoring alone was enough to push the Patriots into a nice road win in east Lake Forest. The Scouts, who were led by sophomore Halle Douglass’ 10 points, couldn’t muster the second half scoring output to match the Patriots after trailing by only one at halftime. The final score was 44-26 in favor of the Patriots. The 26 points scored by the Scouts was their lowest offensive output of the year.
The Scouts struggled mightily from the field on their home floor, with more than one third of their game total coming from the free throw line. It doesn’t get any easier for the Scouts, who now host Warren on Friday, a team studded with multiple Division I players.
Be sure to catch the Varsity matinee as they play host to Warren at 5:30 on Friday night before the boys varsity game at 7:00 pm.
