The girls varsity basketball team opens up their 2017 campaign tonight against Lake Forest Academy at 4:30 at Vernon Hills High School. The Scouts are starting their season with their annual season-opening tournament that is hosted by Vernon Hills. Last year, the Scouts went (23-10) and claimed their first regional title in 12 years. Led by senior guards Delaney Williams (Wittenburg University) and Tori Salanty, the Scouts experienced one of the most successful seasons in program history.
This year, the Scouts will have many second year varsity players in addition to a couple of very talented freshman. The Scouts have a lot of size and return Maeve Summerville, the all time leading rebounder in LFHS girls basketball history, though she will miss the beginning of the season due to injury. Aside from their post play, deceptively quick point guard Halle Douglass, a leader who has garnered Division 1 attention in recruiting, will try to use her high basketball IQ to propel the Scouts to their first win of the 2017 season tonight. Come out to Vernon Hills High School and support the Scouts as they try to take down Lake Forest Academy!
