If you have ever had class with Mr. Sheridan, you’ve quickly learned that he is a connoisseur of music. Mr. Sheridan’s personal band experience includes building a business, finding gigs, and keeping team morale high—all translating to the classroom, giving Mr. Sheridan a unique teaching approach.

What’s your favorite song of all time? Impossible to pick one—but if I have to; I will say John Carpenter’s Halloween score.
What’s your favorite song to play? Anything that has a moving bass line. In one of my music projects, we do a funk medley, which allows me to slap the bass and play around with different funk songs—an absolute blast to play.
What’s the first song you learned to play? “18,” by Alice Cooper.
What’s a song that makes you think of your youth? Any song from Van Halen.
What’s a song you’ve played that riled up the crowd the most? When we play “Enter Sandman” from Metallica—The metal heads make themselves known!
What’s a niche song that you think kids our age should listen to? So many different genres and choices, but go back and listen to some of the greats from the past—whether it’s Frank Sinatra or Paul McCartney.
What are your two favorite concerts, one you have played, and one you have attended? Playing Ravinia, back when I was with a Disney recording artist, “Ralph’s World” was a great experience. The music was okay, but playing to a 10,000+ crowd was pretty amazing. As for attending, seeing Van Halen back in 1982 is a memory I’ll never forget.
What’s the greatest lesson you have learned from music? It sounds cliche to say, but music brings people together no matter what your beliefs or background. All of the differences fall to the background when people are enjoying music. Music unites and unifies.
