With spring rolling around the corner comes the excitement of many LFHS sports. Although Lake Forest has many strong teams, the Girls Lacrosse Team is expected to break ground this year.
Last season, the Scouts faced a new challenge: having to face the eventual state champions, New Trier High School, in the second round of sectionals. In the past, the lacrosse team has swept through sectionals, consistently playing for the final four. However, last season, the Scouts faced a tough, but close loss of 6-8 to New Trier.
The combination of young talent and determined returners expect the Scouts to shock the reigning champions. In this 2026 pre-season, the scouts are sending out a clear message that with full strength, they are ready to dominate the reigning champions and play for first.

This year, the Scouts have implemented many changes in the pre-season in order to hit the ground running, and start the season already focused and honed in on improvement.
Head Coach Cat Catanzaro has constructed a mental and physical plan in order to hold accountable players. This plan pushes players lacrosse IQ, physical strength, and stick skills.
Players and those trying out for the team work hard on an accountability packet that Coach Cat created with recommended at-home workouts. They have also been attending this year’s open gyms, two to three a week. The Scouts normally start open gyms in mid-January, however this year the open gyms started after Thanksgiving break.
With this earlier start, the scout’s pre-season work is what will ultimately show in May. Through this preparation, the Scouts leave no excuses to fall short this season.
