Senior Graham Garrigan and freshman Emmett Lee celebrate a goal against Wheaton Academy

LAKE FOREST, IL– The No. 4 ranked Scouts hosted the St. Viator Lions in a top five heavyweight bout on a warm Saturday morning. The Scouts entered the match up with a record of 14-2 while the Lions were sitting at 11-3. The last time St. Viator and Lake Forest matched up was during the State tournament last year. The Scouts fell to the Lions 13-3 last year and would finish third in state. The Scouts started Saturday’s game with a face off win from Junior Joe Remus. It would take until the second quarter for the 0-0 tie to be broken. Junior Lucas Kroner would start the scoring game for the Scouts. Lake Forest would lead 3-2 at the end of the half.

The Scouts defense spearheaded by Quinnipac commit Aguie Silver would hold strong throughout the second half only allowing one goal. The offense would get in a groove and put up six more goals.

The following Tuesday, the defending state champion Wheaton Academy Warriors would be the next to face off against the Scouts. It didn’t take long for the Scouts to start rolling quickly, and they were up 4-1 at the end of the first half. Wheaton would eventually score their only goal of the game right before half. Wheaton dominated last year’s match up 11-4 and would eventually go on to win the IHSA Lacrosse State Championship. The Scouts would score five more with contributions from senior Depauw commit Oscar Kokke, freshman Emmet Lee, junior Lucas Kroner, senior Colin Pfeifle, and senior Graham Garrigan to finish the game.

Both St. Viator and Wheaton Academy are playoff contenders this year. Both rosters sport multiple NCAA commitments, highly touted coaches, and a history of winning. With the season drawing to a close the Scouts finish off the regular season against York High School at home on Saturday morning and then against No. 5 New Trier on Thursday.
