The Varsity Girls’ Lacrosse Team has officially started preparing for the 2024 season, and this year is going to be special for the Scouts. Their previously high standards have been taken to another level, in hopes of paving a way to the state championships in June.

The Scouts have had notable seasons for the past two years with overall records of 20-4 in 2022 and 19-7 in 2023. Both of which resulted in the team taking home third place in the state.

After falling short in the semifinals for the past two years, the Scouts are ready for a change that will push them over the edge.

Thus, the Scouts have developed a strategic practice plan that will give them a competitive edge by advancing their skills and endurance.

“Since we’ve gotten third for the past two years, we’re working really hard to win the semifinal game and make it to the finals,” senior captain Lissy Blume said. “We have a mentality this season to just do one more; whenever we’re tired and want to quit, push just a little bit to do one more.”

With this mentality, the Scouts will be one step ahead of all of their main competitors.

The team did lose a few key players; nevertheless, this team is going to thrive. The team gained ten new players who are eager to put in the work to be proficient this season.

“I am excited to lead and get to know all of the new girls. We have a lot of new teammates and everyone is willing and ready to work hard,” junior captain Maeve Farrell said.

This is going to be a fun team to pay attention to as they have a roster full of talented athletes.

Come support the Scouts at their first game of the season on Thursday, March 14 at West Campus, against Hinsdale Central.
