It’s that time of year again. Just in time for the holidays, Lake Forest High School Business Entrepreneurship classes are selling LFHS themed products to students and the community.
I spoke to the CEO of one of these classes, sophomore Kiley Kennedy, to discuss her class’s product.
As CEO of the class, Kiley oversees everything that goes on in the class to help it run smoothly. She also makes sure her classmates stay on task, and is given a lot of responsibilities by her teacher, Mr. LaScala. Despite the workload, Kiley enjoys being CEO and says it’s worth it.
How did you decide to sell S’well water bottles?
We noticed that a lot of people are buying S’wells and they’re really popular around the school, especially with girls. So we thought, why not sell them with a Scouts Logo?
How much do the water bottles cost?
We’re selling them for $20, which is a good price considering if you buy a S’well in store they’re around $35.
What else should we know about the product?
The water bottle itself has some great features. They keep drinks cold for a ridiculously long time. I have one at home and if I put ice cubes in it at night, they’re still ice in the morning. They also keep hot drinks hot for 12 hours.
When can people get these by? Will they be available in time for the holidays?
Order forms are out now but the bottles are coming in next week. So you could definitely have one in time for the holidays. We also sell to a lot of parents, so we have a delivery option.
Is there anything else we should know about your class or company?
Yes, we are donating all of the proceeds from our product sales to a family in need of financial help in the community.
In the past, students got paid the profits from their business at the end of the semester? Are you not doing that this year?
Yes, this year all classes are donating proceeds instead of paying the students. Some classes are donating to big organizations but we decided to donate to something more local.
S’well bottles or any other Business Entrepreneurship products are a great gift to give to a friend, an alumni, a future Scout, or you parents. They are also a great opportunity to support the hard work of LFHS students, and contribute to wonderful local charities.
