Today, the Boys Golf team travels down to Palatine Hills Golf Course for the IHSA Sectional (rescheduled from yesterday). At Regionals last Tuesday, senior captain Sam Davis led the charge, shooting even par en route to third place.
“I made a lot of putts last week,” said Davis. “I hope I can keep it going at Sectionals.”
Palatine Hills is a par-72, 6820 yard track, and with intermittent water hazards, the Scouts need to stay patient and locked in to score well. Additionally, rain from the last few days has created soggy conditions, although some great weather today may alleviate the flooded areas. That being said, tough conditions are nothing new for the Scouts, and coming off a momentous win at Regionals last week, confidence is high. This is also in part due to the high level of preparation that the Scouts arrive with; the team has used multiple practice rounds in the weeks leading up to today to get to know the course.
The course finishes with a dogleg left par 4 with a pond on the left, but depending on where the ball settles off the tee, the water can essentially be taken out of the equation. A drive sent to the left, on the other hand, puts in trees guarding the green. With everything on the line, hole 18 is a perfect test of the Scouts’ ability to execute under pressure, which in the postseason so far has been excellent.

The Scouts are sectional champs! With a 296 total the Scouts win by 5. Danny Fisher finishes t-2nd with an even par 72. Colin Jasper finishes t-5th with a 74. It was a great team victory. The Scouts head down state tomorrow after school in prep of the practice round on Thursday.
