The McDermand invitational took place at Lake Bluff Golf Course last Saturday and the Boys Varsity Golf team took advantage of their home course and won with a low score of 290. Sophomore Colin Jasper took home medalist honors as he shot a 71 (-1). Junior Patrick Moorhead continued his strong play as he shot a 72 (E). Captains Danny Fisher and Sam Davis chipped in with scores of 73 (+1) and 74(+2) respectively.
The Scouts continued their dominance at the Conference Championship at Willow Glen. By the time the scoring was official no team was within fifteen strokes of the Scouts. Fisher took control of the course as he shot a season-low 67 (-4). Sophomore Charlie Haggerty continued to impress as he shot a 74 (+3). To round out the top four scores, Davis and freshman Jack Marshall both shot a 76 (+5).
Senior Erik Luedeking had this to say about the team’s success at the McDermand, “It felt great to get the first place finish on our home course, also Colin (Jasper) really stepped up today and proved why he gives us a better chance to win.” Luedeking has high praise for the sophomore. Charlie Haggerty seemed confident moving forward from the conference championship, “Everyone really stepped up today as we kept all of our scores under 80 and Danny played some incredible golf to take home the medalist honors.”
The Scouts are looking to continue their winning ways at the Invitational at Winnetka Golf Club on Saturday and at Steeple Chase on Tuesday for the Regional Championship.
