Scouts fall to talented Buffalo Grove team on the road

Auto+Draft+182

BUFFALO GROVE, Ill.– The LFHS Boys Water Polo team’s winning streak finally came to an end yesterday in a tough matchup against the BGHS Bison. This Bison squad was a very formidable opponent for the Scouts, coming in with a 14-1 record. After a quiet first half, senior Will Paschke led the scoring from the Scouts, accumulating a total of four goals. In addition, fellow senior Andrew Gherlein and sophomore Greg Damidot put in a goal each.

Just a day before the tough loss, the Scouts took down the Warren Blue Devils by a score of 11-5. Damidot and Chuck Mickey led the team in scoring in that contest with a combined six goals, and reliable seniors Paschke and Gherlein scored two each. As usual, however, it was the defense that powered the Scouts through the Warren game down the stretch. Seniors Michael Rourke and Charlie Capps allowed just five goals after dozens of shots-on-goal.

This Saturday, the Scouts will take on Lane Tech, McHenry, and St. Viator at a “Round Robin” tournament at home. However, the matchup to look forward to comes a few days later on Tuesday when the LFHS Boys Water Polo team will take on Stevenson High School in an away match. The Scouts need to open the game up early with a few quick goals and thus be able to rely on their fantastic goalies to protect them down the stretch.
