The first annual Lake Forest High School career fair is complete, and it did not disappoint.
Throughout the day Tuesday, students ventured to the Competition Gym to take a look at some 50 different local companies that were in attendance. The companies and their representatives set up their booths in 15 different industry ‘clusters’ to offer diversity in possible career options. While students were timid at first, the interactions picked up and students and representatives dove in to detailed discussions about their companies and career opportunities.
Networking is a key component to success in the future, and Lake Forest High School offered that opportunity to students today. Whether students were sure or unsure about their future plans, everyone got a taste of what a career will be like in all the varying industries.
Event committee member Ms. Liz Hannon mentioned how excited she was to be a part of a unique event. She does admit, though, that more could be done to encourage students to interact with the representatives, as most students spoke with just one or two companies. Regardless, the first annual career fair was a successful and interesting event, and one that will definitely be impactful in the future.
