There’s two kinds of people in the world: those who wear flip flops to school and those who make fun of the people who wear flip flops to school.
I’ll tell you which person I want to be. I started my love for flip flops early in my high school career. I would pair them with my tennis uniform and a cute sweater. And let me tell you, I felt great! The first day I decided to wear my flip flops not even two periods into the day I got made fun of for “having my dogs out.” and received looks while flopping down the hall.
It’s safe to say that toes out in school is still quite the controversy.
As spring has sprung at LFHS, many different teams are taking on new traditions with their game day outfits.
“The other captains and I had our whole team wear flip flops on gamedays with our uniforms. It’s such a fun gameday tradition and it’s great for the warm weather,” said girls lacrosse captain Ellie Carter.
The warm weather mixed with the lack of air conditioning at school has definitely made it challenging when picking what shoes to wear for the day.
“Flip flops have definitely been the answer when the school will not turn on the AC. I’m a huge fan of making flip flops normalized,” said senior Phoebe Silver.
Just like there are people who love the toes out movement there are people who hate it.
“I hate feet. Like genuinely, I think they’re disgusting. It’s not even warm out and people are already wearing flip flops like it’s okay for school. It distracts me in class, they don’t look good, and honestly they just kinda gross me out,” said junior Ava Page.
It’s understandable to be uncomfortable with the flaky toe skin and the nasty hang nails, So if you do decide to join the flipflop train, please take care of your feet. Whether it’s a cute pair or sandals or a classic flipflop, it reminds us that summer is just around the corner.

I completely agree. Flip-flops used to be common for males and females of all ages. Now everyone is foot-shaming. It’s too bad.
