For some, the day crept up on them; for others, it was long anticipated. Either way, Decision Day is a tradition seniors proudly embrace.
On May 1st every year, seniors are required to make their decision for what their plans after high school will be, whether that’s going to college or not. This is a defining day for seniors’ futures.
Seniors are committing throughout the year to colleges, and May 1st awaits them, where they get to wear their college t-shirt and represent their future school.
It’s fun for everyone in the school to get to see what each student is doing after graduation.

Senior Sarah Halperin participated in this tradition this year and enjoyed seeing where friends, both old and new, are going.
“I got to see where everyone is going to college, and I have known some people since preschool. It’s really nice to look back on childhood memories and see what the future holds for everyone,” said Halperin.
It’s a bittersweet day, with both looking at the future and what it holds for each senior, but also looking at past memories, and seeing your peers grow up with you.
Senior Gabe Donnez wore his San Diego State shirt proudly to school on Friday and took great pride in showing his future plans.
“It’s a great opportunity for seniors to show off their plans for the future. It brings both recognition for past work and anticipation for the future,” said Donnez.
Parents and staff worked hard to make this day special for all. When students entered school on Friday, there was a “Senior Only” area where seniors got to see each other and celebrate one another.
This “Seniors Only” area had lots of food and breakfast, a large paper where students could put their handprint on, and big 2026 balloons that students could pose in front of with pride. There was a photographer capturing all the joy of the day.
The school was filled with bright colors of Crimson to Violet. Seniors are going all over the world.
And for the class of 2026, the end of a chapter marks the start of another.
