Several seniors at LFHS have caught a case of the popular senioritis. With motivation low, here is a list of dates and activities that will help keep spirits high as you finish out the last year of high school. Luckily, we seniors have a lot to look forward to, and these events will be keystones when we look back at our “glory days.”
- St. Patrick’s Day Parade (3/14)
Coming in the wink of an eye, the Chicago hosted St. Patrick’s Day parade will be celebrated downtown this Saturday. The event is centered around Irish spirits, fantastic food, and a lively atmosphere. If you are a senior and are looking for a change of scenery this weekend, the St. Patrick’s Day parade is right up your alley. From the train ride up to roaming Lake Shore Drive, you are guaranteed a good time.
- Senior Spring Break (3/20-3/22)

Another (arguably more) anticipated event for seniors is the classic senior spring break. A week in the sun and sand with your friends is guaranteed to cure any winter blues and offers the best memories to be made around the people you love most. Coming in just over a week, seniors get the opportunity to soak in some vitamin D with the company of their best friends. Seniors- go make some memories in the sun this spring break!
- Ditch Day (TBD)
Although the exact date is to be determined, senior ditch day is another highly anticipated April event. The LFHS tradition remains standing, and between skipping a day of class and watching a ball game, what’s not to love! Ditch day is a jam packed day- from taking the train to Chicago, to hanging out in the bleachers, memories will be made amongst our class. We’re about a month out from celebrating like Ferris Bueller!
- Decision Day (5/1)

The celebration of four years of hard work, dedication, and academic rigour is celebrated by high schoolers across the country on May 1st. Recognizing the journey that your peers are ready to start is a special moment that only seniors can relate to. From the delicious breakfast spread to the specialized college gear, the day will feel rewarding. For high school seniors, this decision (and day) might be the biggest of your life so far, so why not celebrate with those who did it by your side?
- Prom (5/16)

Ah- the last dance! After 9 complete school dances, the last one is bound to be a special one of sentiment and memories. Our last red carpet, our last pre-party, our last time on the dance floor, and the last time doing the awkward corsage and boutonniere exchange… Seniors- let’s dance the night away one last time. Mark your calendars for May 16th, because it is guaranteed to be a night to remember.
- Graduation (6/6)
Of course, this list would not be complete without graduation at the end. The day is full of nostalgia and remembrance, as we celebrate completing our high school chapter with the same people we learned our ABC’s with. Graduation is full of celebration with family, friends, and teachers who have helped shape our lives. Getting to walk across the stage and earn our diplomas after four years of hard work will be an undeniably proud feeling. Closing this chapter in our lives will feel wistful, but it reminds us of how far we have come together.
