The 70s-themed Talent Show is hitting the stage this weekend–Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7pm in the RMA–and showcasing 18 different acts with stupendous talent. Make sure to learn a little about all the acts below before seeing them perform on the big stage.

Description of your act:

We play the music between the acts to keep the audience engaged and to fit the Talent Show theme!

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

We have many returning House Band members from last year, so it feels much more relaxed than a typical musical performance. Being on the high stage is fun and we leave with too many inside jokes to count.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

Music is my favorite thing in the world, and lately I've tried my best to have the courage to share mine with other people.

Description of your act:

We are a new band playing "Creep" by Radiohead.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

Most of us knew each other before we formed a band and could all play different instruments. We thought it would be fun to put a band together and perform for the Talent Show.

Description of your act:

I play solo acoustic guitar standing while playing "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" by Jack Johnson.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

I decided to do Talent Show because I've always wanted to learn guitar as I had always wanted to play: I think it is such a cool and fun thing to be able to do. When I turned 17, I finally decided to stop thinking and just go for it. One day, I found a guitar on Facebook Marketplace, and that’s where it all started. I began taking lessons and practicing, and I’ve learned so much already. Now, I want to take the next step. I want to perform in front of people and see what it feels like to play for a big audience. I believe it will also be exciting and unforgettable. It is my senior year and I want to remember it more by doing something I've never done or thought of doing. I’ll always remember the moment I stepped out of my comfort zone and decided to flip the script

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

After doing Talent Show last year, I was eager to do it again because of what an amazing and fun experience it is. The process is so student led; it’s so cool to take on so much responsibility and really feel like an integral part of the show.

We were a part of Talent Show last year and had an amazing time, so we were very excited to get to do it again. We are very good friends and enjoy the opportunity to share the stage together.

I am doing a solo act: sitting on a stool and singing to the song "Paranoia Purple" by YEBBA.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

I have done Talent Show for the past two years–since I was a freshman–and it has been the highlight of my high school experience. There is a strong community formed during the process so you feel like you belong into a group. It has allowed me to start being more social and just reconnecting with people I otherwise wouldn’t have. It is also such a good way to immerse yourself in all of the natural talent at the high school that otherwise would be kept to themselves.

Favorite 70s media:

I love the music and entertainment of the 70s, such as Queen, but also the movies during the time.

It’s a fun duet to the song "You’re Still the One" by Shania Twain: one of us plays guitar and one of us sings the harmonies.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

We thought it looked like a super fun experience and a great way to meet new people while doing what we love.

We are playing "Swallow" by Casiopea, which is a classic jazz fusion tune: it’s pretty dope.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

We decided to merge with jazz combo into one group because we all love Casiopea and wanted to play a fun fusion song!

Description of your act:

With a mix of fantastic musicians and even better vibes, this act is bringing some much needed Bublé to the RMA stage. It's got swing, it's got feel, and it's got wow.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

Since my freshman year, I've dreamt of performing Bublé's rendition of "Feeling Good" for Talent Show. However, with such a large quantity of instruments and a deceivingly tricky vocal part, the song just seemed to be too much of a burden. Then, this year, I threw all of that out the window and made it happen. We're ecstatic to play and hope that everyone comes!

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

We've watched the Talent Shows from the past two years and we've always wanted to be apart of it. We really enjoy making music so we're both excited to be in the show!!!

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

[Nori] has wanted to sing Kyoto live since [she] first sang along to the song, so [she] found the some of the most capable musicians [she] knows to put together this Talent Show act.

Liam Sheridan

Description of your act:

Liam Sheridan is debuting one of his own songs at the Talent Show this year. After releasing his first single “Lost,” Sheridan plans to debut and play a brand new original at this year’s show.

Why did your group decide to join the Talent Show?

Liam Sheridan chose to join the Talent Show this year because he has been a part of it since his freshman year and he often describes it as his favorite part of the year. He also loves playing his own music and this year he decided to do it with a full band.

I really love the song "Dreams" (1977) by Fleetwood Mac.
