Missing Lollapalooza? Well luckily, CROYA is hosting something even better this Friday, May 10th.

Every year CROYA hosts the Battle of the Bands to see which bands of Lake Forest High School can compete to musical greatness. There are many genres that are displayed in all of the bands including: funk, pop, but mostly rock!

Event organizer and CROYA Student Union Program Manager, Rick Day says, “It’s a great showcase of the musical talent in our community and an opportunity to see people share the music they love in their own unique way.”

This year there are three talented bands participating in this epic battle: G.O.O.S.E. vs. Anomalist vs. Something or Other.

Each band will be put to the test with a rocking 40 minutes of music each for you to hoot and holler to.

Nate Arch, sophomore and band leader of G.O.O.S.E. says, “We’re doing Battle of the Bands because we love music and we want to make the most of our years in high school.”

His band consists of senior Ian Redfield, juniors Xavier Garriques and Millie Foley, sophomores Fleury Robbins and freshmen Marcel Meyer and Liam Sheridan.

“We’re playing a range of music, from classic songs to newer ones… to stand out, we’re just trying to be the best that we can be, working more technical songs into our fun setlist,” said Arch.

Junior Nicholas Pizzo describes his band, Anomalist as, “a metalcore band, which is a subgenre of metal that blends metal riffs and song structure with hardcore punk’s introspective lyrics and breakdowns.”

Their unique melodies are performed by all juniors Jordan Miles, Julia Wright, Alice Rayome, and Miles Mackey.

“We have a pretty exciting set that we’re sure will catch the attention of the judges! We have a wide variety of talents on display, and we switch around instruments a lot to show them off… We do have a deal with the other bands to play at least one song from Weezer’s debut ‘Blue Album’,” said Pizzo.

Finally, senior Leo Rubin and band leader of Something or Other says, “We’re playing a mixture of indie and punk music… We’re just trying to have as much fun as we can.

His band consists of seniors Evan Hauserman and Nick Hawkins.

“Support your local music community and experience some of the best musicians LFHS has to offer live!” said Pizzo.
