Name: Zachary Shoemaker

College: The College of Charleston

Major: Commercial Real Estate, Entrepreneurship

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Mascot: Cougars

How did you first hear about the College of Charleston, and what made you apply? A few of my friends and I went down to Charleston over the summer to check out the school/city, and I knew right away it was where I wanted to end up.”

Why Charleston? The weather is a huge component, I’m looking forward to not dealing with a midwest spring.  The city is incredible, everyone says this about Charleston, and it’s true.”

What are you most excited about? My best friend, Jackson Drum, is going to the school as well, so he and I get to dorm together.  Also, sophomore year we get to move into an apartment, where we’ll live for the remaining years.”

 

Name: Mary Carter

College: Tulane University 

Major: Marketing

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana

Mascot: Green Wave

How did you first hear about Tulane, and what made you apply? “I first heard about this college through the sailing team, but I applied because many people told me they think I would like it.”

Why Tulane? I chose this college because I have heard amazing things about the students’ overall happiness and the spirit throughout the school is very impressive.”

What are you most excited about? I am most excited to experience the diverse culture throughout New Orleans and I love the warm weather.”

Name: Julia Sotos

College: The University of Wisconsin-Madison

Major: Psychology

Mascot: Bucky the Badger

Location: Madison, Wisconsin

How did you first hear about Wisconsin, and what made you apply? “Last March, my mom wanted me to start going on college tours. She was looking at colleges around the area that we could visit on the weekend and I had heard good things about Wisconsin! I knew some of my friends were also applying, and I liked the school when I visited, so I decided to apply!”

Why Wisconsin? “I felt like Wisconsin was the perfect fit for me! I love how the campus is right on the lake with fun activities, gorgeous scenery, and the charity hockey game every winter. It’s also such a great college town! It’s a really big school with great school spirit and I can’t wait for all the tailgates and football games!”

What are you most excited about? “I am most excited for game days, meeting new people, and decorating my new dorm!”

 

Name: Collin Sinclair

College: Rollins College

Major: Business Management

Location: Winter Park, Florida

Mascot: Tommy the Tar

How did you first hear about Rollins, and what made you apply? “I was scrolling through TikTok my freshman year and Rollins popped up on my “for you page”, and I found out it was ranked number 1 in most prestigious schools in the South.”

Why Rollins? “I chose Rollins because I wanted to be in Florida and the community within the college is a great fit for my future.”

What are you most excited about? “Meeting new friends and having a fresh start in life with many opportunities to come my way.”

 

Name: Abigail Arnolds

College: Virginia Tech

Major: Environmental Conservation and Architecture

Location: Blacksburg, Virginia

Mascot: Hokies

How did you first hear about Virginia Tech, and what made you apply? I heard about Virginia Tech from my counselor at school and I applied because they have a really awesome architecture program!”

Why Virginia Tech? I decided to go to Virginia Tech because I love the culture of the school and the community.”

What are you most excited about? “I am most excited about broadening my horizons and learning new things!”

 

Name: Rylie Koval

School: Bucknell

Location: Lewisburg, Pennsylvania

Mascot: Bison

How did you first hear about Bucknell, and what made you apply? I first heard about Bucknell when I was doing college research and learned more about it over time. I visited the campus last fall and fell in love with the school.”

Why Bucknell? “I chose Bucknell because of the wide variety of opportunities the school supplies, which was one of the main reasons I decided to apply undecided. Bucknell has incredible programs and I’m looking forward to exploring them. As an added bonus, Bucknell is in a beautiful, small college town with a strong social life.”

What are you most excited about? I’m most excited to meet new people and live independently.”

She is a part of various activities like Student Council, and Women's Club, and is the Chairwoman for the CROYA Exec Board. If she is not attending the Wednesday night CROYA meetings, you can find her watching Gilmore Girls, or spending time with friends!
