Senior Mahi Bhalla is a student here at LFHS that is very involved. As the Student Body Vice President and Leader of Scout Nation she takes on many responsibilities and has a lot to do here for the student body!

Can you tell us about what made you want to join student council?

“I actually really did not want to do student council, my mom kind of forced me to sign up. But after the first meeting, I was hooked! It’s such a good group of people and we all learn from each other. Lots of good life skills!”

Are there any events or projects that you are excited about?

“We have a really cool opportunity coming up, where we are working with Radical Generosity to do a canned food drive! They are an organization in Wilmette based on helping the less fortunate in Chicago and North Chicago communities.  I am really excited about that and hope we get a lot of participation and involvement!”

As a member of Scout Nation, do you think students of Lake Forest High School have enough school spirit?

“I personally feel like spirit is lacking at sporting events. It’s something Scout Nation has been talking about all year. Underclassmen need to show up more, and most of the seniors need to up their game. If you’re at an event, you better be cheering and yelling.”

Do you feel like you have to be a role model for underclassmen?

“By being on the student council, you definitely have to lead by example. It’s a commitment to the school and the values at LFHS, but I don’t think you really feel pressure to be a ‘perfect’ role model, but there are definitely expectations to do your best!”

Do you feel like you are a role model for underclassmen?

“I feel like every person has their path, so they can’t really be a ‘set’ role model, but I really hope that I can encourage the underclassmen to get involved and just put themselves out there. It really made my high school experience so much better!”

What is your favorite memory so far from senior year?

“There have been so many!  I don’t think I could choose one specific memory, just when I’m with my friends having a good time.”

What advice would you give to rising seniors?

“My advice is to take it all in and definitely don’t be in a rush to get out of here! It is really cheesy advice, but time flies in your senior year, so treasure it!”
