College: Texas Christian University

Major: Communications

Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Mascot: Horned Frogs

How did you first hear about TCU, and what made you apply? I went on a tour junior year not knowing anything about the school. I walked on campus and immediately loved it and could see myself there. I continued to love it until it was time for me to apply to colleges and that’s when I decided to early decision.”

Why TCU? “I chose TCU because when I visited, it checked all my boxes. The campus is gorgeous and very walkable. The vibe of the school was everything I wanted and I instantly fell in love with it. I wanted something that differed from Illinois and Texas is perfect for that.”

What are you most excited about? I’m so excited to make new friends, go to football games and experience Texas life!”

Name: Jack Jensen

College: McPherson College

Major: Automotive Restoration

Location: McPherson, Kansas

Mascot: The Bulldogs

How did you first hear about McPherson, and what made you apply? “I first heard about them while I was looking through sites and noticed it.”

Why McPherson? “The reason I applied was that I grew up working on a 1966 chevelle and always loved working on them and so I looked through the site and saw they had automotive restoration as a major so I added it to a list.”

What are you most excited about? “The thing I’m most excited about is that the newest car that the school bought for the program is from 1970.”

Name: Maria Kyriacou

College: University of Virginia

Major: History and Linguistics

Location: Charlottesville, Virginia

Mascot: Cavaliers

How did you first hear about UVA, and what made you apply? “My cousins attended UVA and had an amazing time! I also toured the school this summer and loved it!”

Why UVA? UVA has everything I wanted in a college, amazing academic programs, and family nearby.”

What are you most excited about? “I’m most excited about the extracurricular activities. I hope to continue Model United Nations, play trumpet in their pep band, and learn a new sport. I’m thrilled to spend the next four years as a cavalier! Go Hoos!”

Name: Tyler Klein

College: Elon University

Major: Psychology

Location: Alamance County, North Carolina

Mascot: The Phoenix

How did you first hear about Elon, and what made you apply? “I visited when I was around 11 or 12 with my oldest brother when he was first going on his college visits.”

Why Elon? “I wanted to get out of the Midwest since I was a child, so going far away from home was my goal. The campus has been recognized for being one of the prettiest campuses. Not only this, but the size just being under 7,000 undergrads was the perfect size for me. Lastly, I wanted a college that I knew offered a lot of opportunities as well as a great study abroad program.”

What are you most excited about? “I am most excited about being around a lot of new faces. I have lived in the same house, same room, on the same street my whole life. So just having new scenery is what I’m most excited about. I also like being put into uncomfortable situations such as having to put yourself out there and meeting new peers.”

Name: Charlie Walsh

College: University of Mississippi, Ole Miss

Major: Advertising

Location: Oxford, Mississippi

Mascot: Rebels, Land Sharks

How did you first hear about Ole Miss, and what made you apply? “My older cousin got admitted and committed to Ole Miss, so she told me about it and I eventually went to visit her and family down there. But even though I was younger when I visited I still really liked the school. And I just gravitate toward the south in general cause my family grew up there.”

Why Ole Miss? “The weather is really nice, the people are really nice, and the sports are really good. I can’t think of any negatives about the school. There’s a good program for my major too. They also have a big Greek life, so I’m excited to be a part of that.”

What are you most excited about? “I am most excited about meeting new people, finding and making new friends and relationships, and experiencing life outside of the Lake Forest/Lake Bluff bubble.”

Name: Grace Boyle

College: Denison University

Major: Political Science on a Pre-Law Track

Location: Granville, Ohio

Mascot: Big Red Buzzard

How did you first hear about Denison and what made you apply? “I have always known about Denison because of the many alumni in Lake Forest and I had always heard great things about it. Denison met all of the criteria that I was looking for, and after visiting the campus twice, and after conversations with alumni, I realized that I couldn’t see myself anywhere but Denison.”

Why Denison? “I chose Denison because it offered everything I wanted in a school. I wanted a small school, with a liberal arts curriculum and a tight-knit community. The Denison Alum network is amazing and presents so many opportunities as well. The campus being so beautiful really topped it off. Denison is full of experiences and opportunities, it is close to Columbus so I can take advantage of being close to a major city – while still living on the small campus. Denison has an amazing reputation and checked every box I had, being only 6 hours away from home was a bonus – and still being in the Midwest was important to me. Denison has a great program for Political Science and Pre-Law, and after talking to someone with the same major, and hearing how much she enjoyed it – helped seal the deal.”

What are you most excited about? “I am most excited to make new friends, take classes in my major, join the club swim team, or either walk on – making use of all the opportunities at Denison and in Columbus.”
