This year’s march madness was one of the craziest tournaments in college basketball history. San Diego State University was the first five-seed in history to make it to the championship. It was also the first time in tournament history that a four-seed faced a five-seed in the championship.

UConn had one of the most dominant runs in March Madness history winning all of their games by at least 13 points. Not only was the championship a great part of the tournament, but there were tons of upsets as well.

Just like the Miami Game, UConn dominated against San Diego State in the championship, winning 76 to 59. This margin of victory was larger than their win against Miami in the final four. Center Adama Sanogo and guard Triston Newton both had double-doubles in points and rebounds. This game was a blowout, and to be honest, most of us expected it.

There was almost another big upset in the Final Four with 9-seeded Florida Atlantic losing on a buzzer-beater to fifth-seeded San Diego State University. The Final Four matchup between Florida Atlantic and San Diego State was an all-time classic game. It had everything, a big run by SDSU, high intensity on defense by both teams, and the crowd getting involved and being a 6th man. San Diego State’s Lamont Butler hit a fadeaway shot as time expired to give them the one-point win and send them to the championship game. SDSU overcame a double-digit deficit in the second half to be able to have a chance at the end of the game, they did it with great defense and forcing turnovers. They were down by 14 at one point with about 12:30 left to go in the game and were able to turn up their energy to bring the game close and ultimately win and advance to the championship game.

The other final four games were 4-seeded UConn versus 5-seeded University of Miami. This game was not even close, UConn came out on top beating Miami 72-59. Center Adama Sanogo had an amazing game and had a double-double. Sanogo scored 21 points and came down with 10 rebounds helping the Huskies create second-chance scoring opportunities. Along with Sanogo, guard Jordan Hawkins and forward Alex Karaban had great games. Hawkins hit some clutch shots and Karaban’s rebounds helped the team a ton. The Hurricanes could not compete with the Huskies and it showed.
