The Girls Track team kicked off their indoor season last Friday at a Co-ed meet held at Lakes indoor track, where they secured a second place win against Lake Villa, Antioch, and Vernon Hills.

However while Lake Forest came in second overall, they won first place in the 3A division.

The distance team and mid-distance team ran especially well.

Emily Wittee won the 400 with a 1:03 finish, followed by Lucy Schlachtenhaufen, who came in 2nd place at 1:06, and Megan Lawniczack who came in 4th with a 1:09.

Sophia Lane won second place in the open 800 with a 2:25.

While the team was missing two of its best distance runners, Isabella and Olivia Marsico they still managed to secure a first place win in the 800 relay, run by: Lucy Schlactenhaufen, Sophia Lane, Shalini Krishswamy, and Pilar Rosales.

The Lake Forest Girls 800 relay team also beat the Vernon Hills boys in the 800 relay.

The 400 relay team pulled off a first place win as well in a very close race. That event was run by Emily Witte, Sophia Lane, Lucy Schlachtenhaufen, and Megan Lawniczak.

“Our distance team is looking really strong and we’re excited to see the outcome in the outdoor season,” said 2022 State qualifier Isabella Marsico.

Field events were also a major success with senior thrower Rowan Homan achieving an impressive PR of 30 meters in shot put.

Junior, sprinter and thrower, Ameena Alsikafi said, “The team is off to a great start, I just hope we can continue that.
