Hometown soon to open in Lake Forest

Hometown soon to open in Lake Forest

Fitz Diefenbach, Staff writer

In a few short months, another new restaurant is opening up in Lake Forest.  Unless you’ve been living under a rock, there has been an evident boom in new restaurants around Lake Forest.

With the addition of Duffers Pub, Le colonial, and Sofias Steakhouse, Lake Foresters and those in neighboring towns have been given great new options for dining.  Hometown will be the latest addition.

Located on the outskirts of the market square at 231 E. Wisconsin Ave. in Lake Forest, where the old Caputo’s cheese market and Visconti cheese market used to operate, Hometown will be opening its doors.

The Coffee and Juice shop found much success at its first location in Glencoe and its second in Winnetka.  Owners Lou and Julie Rubin are hoping for their shop to open next month but are “At the mercy of unstable construction costs and materials.”

Here are some of the choices you can expect from each category of the Hometown menu :

HOMETOWN TOASTS:

THE CLASSIC: Avocado, Roma tomato, drizzled olive oil, crushed red pepper flakes, & kosher sea salt (add an egg +2)

CLASSICS:

BAGEL & LOX: Smoked salmon, cream cheese, tomato, cucumber, & capers

BAGEL MELTS

BACON, EGG, & CHEESE: Fresh cooked-to-order egg, cheddar cheese, & grilled bacon on a plain bagel

SALADS & POCKETS:

THE HOMETOWN SALAD: Romaine & iceberg lettuce, julienned turkey & ham, Swiss cheese, green olives, gherkin sweet pickles, & Maurice dressing

In addition to their food options, there are of course smoothies, smoothie bowls, coffee, and juices of all different types. Hometown is very unique from any other coffee shop that Lake Forest has seen before.

With its vast variety of quality foods and drinks at a somewhat affordable price, Hometown looks to take its previous success to the Lake Forest streets.
