The Girls Varsity Cross Country Team placed 2nd and the Junior Varsity team placed 1st in their respective races in the Lights Out Invitational meet Thursday.

Junior Isabella Marsico placed 4th overall and finished first for the Varsity team with a time of 11:40:51 for the two mile race.

The Lights Out Invitational, an annual night race, was the last meet before Conference and for the seniors on the team, their last regular meet of their high school cross country career.

The two-mile course included two and a half laps around West Campus then finished on the football field. Several teams were decked out in neon with glow sticks and face paint. Throughout all the races, music was blasting from the stadium.

Many seniors expressed how much they will miss their team and being able to race with them.

“It’s super important to to enjoy every moment you have with the team, enjoy every run, and have fun because before you know it you will be a senior and it will one day be your last practice,” Varsity Captain Alexandra Fontanta said.

In the JV race, eight of the first 10 runners to finish were from Lake Forest, which led to the team securing their first place spot.

Sophomore Emily Witte finished first in the JV race with a time of 13:28:89.
