The girls Varsity Field Hockey team will attempt another deep run into the playoffs starting tonight. The goal: a third State championship in the past four years.

Last year’s second place finish to powerhouse New Trier was not enough for Coach Catanzaro.

This year the Scouts have accumulated an impressive 19-4-2 record, including tournaments. Three losses came against rival New Trier.

Tonight’s opponent, Stevenson, the 18th seed in the tournament, has struggled this season. However, upsets are possible.

The Scouts are led in scoring by seniors Marley Heitman and Gracie McGowen. The two have combined for 33 goals.

“We’ve really grown together as a team,” said Heitman. “As long as we go into it as if it’s just another game, I think we have a shot of winning.”

The game starts at 5 p.m. at West Campus in Lake Forest.
