Scouts Field Hockey: Senior Night

Julia Knipfer, Staff Writer

The spotlight was on seniors Gracie McGowan, Julia Hender, Willow Volkert, Cleo Johnson, Marley Heitman, and Molly Vedra at last night’s field hockey game. The Scouts celebrated their six graduating seniors with a Senior Night game at West Campus.

The Scouts were matched up against the Antioch Sequoits and came out with the win. The seniors put on quite a show for the game with senior Gracie McGowan scoring two goals and having three assists. Senior Marley Heitman also scored another two goals.

Juniors Erica ONeil and Kylie Perkins each scored another goal for the team. In the goal, junior goalie Elsa Goldsberry and sophomore goalie Hedi Richardson each had one save blocking the Sequoits from making it onto the score board.

Each member of the team contributed to the game with numerous steals and the Scouts came to a final score of 6-0.

With only a few games left of the regular season, the Scouts are approaching the State playoffs. High expectations have always been held for the LFHS Varsity Field Hockey team to win a State title, since they have in many years past. This year the girls hope that through their dedication and teamwork, they can get there.

Up next on the schedule, the Scouts are away and will go head to head with New Trier. Everyone should make their way down to Trevian Stadium tonight to cheer on our Scouts.
