Varsity Golf Wins Conference for Second Straight Year

The Lake Forest Scouts Varsity Golf team traveled to Veteran’s Memorial Golf Course on Tuesday looking to defend their title and win back-to-back North Suburban Conference championships. The Scouts came out ready to play and won by a whopping 13 strokes to defend their title.

Junior Pierce Grieve was the low man on the team, shooting a 4-under 67, and earning medalists honors.

“My irons and short game were consistent, which made it pretty easy to make birdies,” Grieve said. “The course presented a lot of opportunities, which I capitalized on.”

Sophomore Jack Marshall came in right behind Pierce, shooting a 2-under 69 and finishing in second place. Senior Patrick Morehead shot a 1-under 70, and junior Flynn Bradley shot a 2-over 73 to round out the top four scores. All four of the top scores earned All-Conference honors.

Some players weren’t sure how the course would play due to the shaky weather leading up to the tournament.

“The course got a lot of rain which, made it difficult to control spin and distances,” said Bradley.

The Scouts will look to build off of this strong performance, as they are set to tee off for regionals next Monday at Shepherd’s Crook Golf Course in Zion.
