The rise of the Lake Forest Boys Volleyball program has come thanks to the work of Coach Steven Wolf and Coach Leah Pranke. Looking forward to his 4th year with the Scouts, Wolf’s team returns a combination of both experienced veterans and newcomers. Last year’s squad was one for the record books, finishing with a 24-7 record along with a Regional Championship. The dynamic duo, Kevin Lamp and Justin McCartney, will return for their third year together starting on varsity. Rising to 6’ 5” in the past year, Stanford commit and national sensation Kevin Lamp will be looking to finish his senior campaign on a high note. The captain, first team All-Area, and in-game leader will be someone that NSC teams fear.

Some younger guys to keep an eye out for are Brenna Marzella and Calvin McCarthy. With some varsity experience, the two juniors are looking to have larger roles this year after losing many key seniors. Also, the two most improved players from last year, Eric Myzk and Spencer Capps, are expected to put up big numbers for the Scouts. This year’s team is primed for success, and I’m excited to keep you up to date with all their latest news.

Key Returners: Kevin Lamp, Justin McCartney, Eric Myzk, Spencer Capps, Brennan Marzella

Looking forward to this season, I spoke with Kevin Lamp on what he expects for this year’s group, “After last year’s deep playoff run, I’m expecting the varsity team, with the return of many key starters, to make it at least to the state quarterfinals. Last year we were knocked out by a talented Libertyville team, but we are definitely the preseason favorites to win our sectional and potentially more.”

The sky’s the limit for the Scouts and this year will be an exciting one. Be sure to follow them on Instagram @lfhsbvb to stay up to date with all their latest news. Their first game is 6:00pm at home against Highland Park on Monday, March 18th.
