September 14th is National Cream Filled Donut Day.
It’s never a bad thing to stop by Dunkin Donuts on the way to school–who can resist the heavenly aroma of a fresh brewed roast at eight in the morning? Normally, most Dunky D patrons pair their coffee with a donut, one of the glazed or chocolate sprinkle variety; but on September 14th, why not deviate from the norm and try a donut of the more sweet, gooey type?
Cream filled donuts, as similar to eclairs as they are to average donuts, are a delicious (if not totally healthy) start to a Wednesday. Along from being sold at Dunky’s, Krispy Kreme sells them by the box and local grocery stores like Jewel and Heinen’s sell them fresh daily.
However, if those of the more culinary-type prefer to bake their own cream filled donuts from scratch, I encourage you to try Pillsbury’s vanilla cream donuts or New York Times’ Boston Creams (or both!) No matter if you buy or create, just make sure there’s enough to go around.
