After a strong first win for the Scouts (2-0) against Highland Park, they were looking to bring the same intensity tonight against Carmel (0-1). Led by 6’7” Pepperdine commit Mike Scott, the Corsairs look to be a strong team this year after an impressive (20-9) record a year ago. After losing twice in straight sets last year, the Scouts wanted redemption to start off their season right on their home floor.

The boys started off hot, with strong slams from Kevin Lamp and Kyle Waggoner that landed them a calm (25-17) win in the first game. Carmel fought back during the second game with adjustments to their game plan in order to shift blocks on LF’s big swingers. The Scouts lost the second game (17-25), but had crucial rallies and momentum that carried them onto winning the third game (25-18). The Scouts played in an extraordinarily scrappy fashion tonight with valuable plays from Jake Danneker and Justin McCartney on the defensive side of the net.

Be sure to come and supports the volleyball team after Spring Break as they face the Stevenson Patriots on April 4 in the Competition Gym.
